“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”
2 Timothy 4:6-7
Henry “Donkey” Bazile was born on January 16, 1959, in Evergreen, LA, to Ceola Payne and Pearley Bazile. On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, God came to Henry’s bedside and whispered, “I’ve come to get you, you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course.”
Henry attended Bunkie High School and was a very quiet young man that stayed to himself but would help anyone that needed it. He loved taking care of his mother Pearley Bazile and became her personal Barbecue chef. He was known as the “Barbecue King”. If there was a Barbecue going on in Bunkie, you could follow the smell and you’d find Henry there.
Henry was preceded in death by his father, Ceola (Pap) Payne; his maternal grandparents, Aaron, Sr. and Vernada Compton; his paternal grandparent Sonovia Williams; his sister, Doris Nell Barfield and just 6 months ago his brother Larry Bazile. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother Pearley Bazile, a daughter Mahogany Johnson, a son Henry Johnson; three sisters: Gaythell Smith, Vernada Wiley, & Pearl Bazile; two brothers: Verna Bazile, & Jerriel (Kelia) Bazile; a sister-in-law Jennifer Bazile; one step- sister Virginia Payne; one aunt, Helen Wilson; several grandkids; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
