Vashti Johnson Obituary (1932 - 2021)

Celebration of Life of Vashti Terrick Johnson Vashti Terrick Johnson was born January 11, 1932 in Kinder, Louisiana to the late John Terrick and Nancy Sykes Terrick. She was welcomed to her Heavenly Life on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her home on 409 Evangeline Lane, Alexandria, Louisiana. Vashti was the youngest of 6 siblings and is also preceded in death by her Sister and Brothers. Also waiting to welcome her to her Heavenly Home is her oldest daughter Johnnie Nell "Sue" Terrick Washington, and her only son, Ubie "Mike" Johnson, Jr. Vashti attended and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church by Reverend E. C. Curtis and accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Acadian Village, she transferred her membership from Shiloh to Mount Calvary Baptist Church, presently under the leadership of Reverend Ronnie L. Humphrey, Sr. Before her illness, she attended all Church Services, was active participant in other events held at Mt. Calvary, and was a faithful tither. Vashti's formal education was received at Peabody. However, her most effective learning was received through life's experiences, which provided her the ability to train her children the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). When she was younger, she loved to dress and loved to dance. People often remarked on both her inner and outer beauty. Throughout the years, she provided food, shelter, and wisdom to many. She retired from Rapides General Hospital after many years of Service. Vashti had the opportunity to travel to Rapid City, South Dakota, Syracuse New York, Dover, Delaware, Blacksburg, Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia, Savannah, Georgia, Naples, Italy, and Stuttgart, Germany. Affectionately known as "The Queen" by her grandchildren, Vashti leaves behind to celebrate, as well as to cherish her memory: Daughters Berdell Johnson, Fayetteville, Georgia; Georgia Mae "Bonnie" Kirts, Pineville, Louisiana; and Nancy Johnson, Alexandria, Louisiana; Son in Law Dave Washington, Jr., Fayetteville, Georgia; Granddaughters, B.A. Golston (Irvin), Phoenix, Arizona, LaShonda P. Johnson, Alexandria, Louisiana; and Emily V. Richardson, Pineville, Louisiana; Grandsons, Norbert J. Washington ((LaTanya) Riverdale, Georgia, Richard Peace, Riverdale, Georgia, Xavier "Tater" James, Houston, Texas, Langston Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia, Rayshawn Williams (Monique) Dallas, Texas, and 17 Great Grandchildren, 12 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives and acquaintances.
