The Life & Legacy of
Spencer Ernest Brackins, Jr.
May 2, 1949 – September 20, 2026
Spencer Ernest Brackins, Jr. was born on May 2, 1949, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the late Spencer Ernest Brackins, Sr. and Annie Brackins. He was blessed with 77 years of life before peacefully transitioning from this earthly life on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his home in Boyce, Louisiana.
Spencer received his early education in Avoyelles Parish and was a graduate of Bethune High School. He later pursued higher education, attending college in South Carolina, where he also enjoyed playing tennis. His love of sports remained with him throughout his life, particularly football and basketball.
A proud veteran, Spencer honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he devoted much of his professional life to the healthcare field, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and housekeeper. His work reflected a willingness to serve and care for others.
Spencer was a longtime member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, where he faithfully worshiped for more than 20 years. He became a member under the leadership of Dr. Joe S. Green and continued his fellowship under the present leadership of Pastor Frank Jackson. Spencer especially enjoyed being a part of the Brotherhood Choir, a ministry that held a special place in his heart.
Those who knew Spencer knew him as a man who was truly full of life. He loved to talk, laugh, tease, and make others laugh, earning a reputation as quite the comedian among family and friends. He loved good food, enjoyed having a good time, and took pride in being well-dressed. When his health permitted, Spencer also enjoyed spending time outdoors caring for his yard.
Spencer shared his life in marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy Green Price Brackins, whom he married on September 23, 2000. Together, they shared many years of love, companionship, and treasured memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Ernest Brackins, Sr. and Annie Brackins, and his twin brother, Spencer “Billy” Brackins.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Dorothy Green Price Brackins; one daughter and one son; three stepchildren; his sister, Rose Bridges; and a host of other relatives, loved ones, church family, and friends who will forever remember his laughter, personality, and love for life.
