The Life and Legacy of
Roscoe Andrew Douglas
March 23, 1951 – September 23, 2026

Roscoe Andrew Douglas was born on March 23, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Edward C. Douglas and Yvonne Bell Douglas. He was blessed with 75 years of life before transitioning from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his home in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Roscoe received his education in Rapides Parish and proudly graduated from Peabody High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school, he continued his education by completing college coursework.

Throughout his working years, Roscoe was employed in the retail industry, where he worked as a Stock Clerk at Caplan’s Retail Store.

Roscoe was blessed with an abundance of creativity and natural talent. He had a genuine love for art and was an exceptionally gifted artist who enjoyed drawing. His creativity extended far beyond paper and pencil, as he was also talented at working with his hands. One of his unique gifts was crafting bamboo chairs, gathering materials from nature and skillfully transforming them into beautiful handmade creations.

He also had a special love for plants and enjoyed planting, growing, and nurturing things. Roscoe found great enjoyment in nature and took pleasure in seeing the things he planted flourish.

Music was another part of Roscoe’s life, and he enjoyed playing the drums. Just as memorable as his artistic abilities was his wonderful sense of humor. Roscoe loved to laugh and make others laugh and often tried his hand at being the comedian in the room. His humorous personality brought countless smiles and moments of joy to those around him.

Roscoe also took pride in his appearance. He enjoyed dressing nicely and presenting himself well. Whether through his artwork, his handmade creations, his love of plants, his music, his sense of humor, or his personal style, Roscoe possessed a distinctive personality that made him truly one of a kind.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. Douglas and Yvonne Bell Douglas, and his beloved daughter, Yvette Powell.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving life partner, Carrie Byrd; one brother, Edward Joseph Douglas; one sister, Lynn Douglas Lemott; his granddaughter, Sydney Powell; nephews, Gregory Gross (Tenesha), Keith Lemott, and Kerrick Lemott (Decantice); one aunt, Meredith Decuir; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Roscoe Andrew Douglas lived a life marked by creativity, laughter, music, style, and an appreciation for the beauty of nature. The works of his hands, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will remain lasting reminders of a life uniquely and wonderfully lived.

Roscoe will be laid to rest at Alexandria Memorial Gardens in Woodworth, Louisiana.
