Robbie Diana Mitchell

The sun rose and shined bright, September 30, 1951. God blessed Robert and Oler Session with a bouncing baby girl. The youngest of 6 children she sang her way through life and into everyone's heart. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Oler Session, 2 brothers, Robert (RL) Session and Anderson (Chico) Wardsworth and 2 sisters Ruth Session and Mabeline Wardsworh.

Diana attended Peabody Elementary and Peabody High School graduating in 1969. She went on to marry George Mitchell from down the street and around the corner. With her children she joined George in his Air Force adventures that started in Omaha, Nebraska and continued on to Anchorage Alaska. After 12 years of snow boots, hats, gloves, and heavy coats George, Diana and their little family headed for the bayous and mudbugs of Central Louisiana.

Louisiana found Diana working for the Alexandria Police Department. Where she met a number of wonderful people who she loved and theysoon became her family. Diana used her love for song to share her love and faith in God with her APD Family and anyone else who would listen.

Diana and George joined Zion Hill Church Family in 1997 under the leadership of Dr. Joshua Joy Dara Sr. It was here they began to really blossom spiritually. They continued to grow, teach, and share God's Word and help those in need. While at Zion Hill, Diana and several other ladies formed the group Joy Dara Singers and where God led Pastor to Minister, they would follow and sing Gods praise. Here, at The Hill, she continued to grow and sharing God's word became her life's work.

In 2021, Diana and George asked the Lord if it was time to make a change. Well God said yes, and then HE pointed their vehicle to Seattle Washington. After hearing from God, they took their Bass Guitar playing and songs on the road in search of a home church. Seattle, Washington watch out here they come. God's people, on a new adventure in His name.

They had to find a church home; Diana was searching for a place where she could use her beautiful voice for God's glory. A place she and George could feel the presence of the Lord. After several false starts and many Sunday blues, they were led to Not by Might Ministries COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Alfred C. Davis, Jr. In this ministry she was referred to as Mother Diana due to the anointing on her life and her love of God. This ministry allowed her to lift her voice in song and share God's word.

The sun set on Diana on March 21, 2023. Celebrating her life and continuing her legacy is her loving husband, George Mitchell; 3 children Sherrell, Shalonda and J'Mar Sr. (Victoria); 7 grandchildren Mason (Niina), Marcus (Shannel), J'Mar Jr, J'Ayden, A'Mariana, A'Dilynn and Emori; her sister Ethel Sergent (Jimmy Sergent); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a great nieces, great nephew, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Please keep the family in prayer.
