Sister Robbie Lee Hamilton was born on June 8, 1936 in Summerfield, Louisiana to Albert & Matilda Russaw. She was married to Dan Hamilton. Two children were born to this union,
one daughter, Gloria White and one son, John Garrett (who has since went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2017).
Sister Robbie graduated from Peabody High School. She worked for Simmons & Quartz Clinic for 25 years. She started a new career with the Rapides Parish School Board System. For 1 1/2 years she did clerical work, later she worked in the food service department for over 20 years. For 15 years she worked for Dr. Bruce Wallace.
Sister Robbie loved the Lord. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully. Later she moved her membership to the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Clarence Dupar, Jr. She was active in many ministries (deaconess, mission, & Sunday school). She was the "Mother of the Church". One thing about "Sister Scottie" (as she was affectionately known at New Bethel) was that she could sang. And sang she did. She was involved several associations including the U.E.M.B.A.
Along with her son, John Lee Garrett she was also proceeded in death by her husband Dan Hamilton, her parents Albert & Matilda Russaw, her sisters, Earline Russaw & Glacile Johnson & one brother, A. B. Russaw.
Robbie Lee Hamilton departed her earthly life on January 25, 2021. She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter Gloria White of Alexandria, LA; four granddaughters, Shenetta Rubin
