Obituary "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Reverend Daryl Wayne Freeman was the fourth and last child born to Reverend Frank Lee Freeman, and Velma Ruth Sanders Freeman on January 13, 1965 in Pineville, Louisiana. Both parents preceded him in death. He departed this life on September 12, 2021 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was also preceded in death by his oldest sister, Carolyn Freeman Granville, mother-in-law, Leona Baines, and brother-in-law, George Baines Jr. He, as the 10th and youngest grandchild of the late Reverend Caleb Freeman and Eva Baker Freeman Calvin, was the "baby boy'', surrounded by sisters and female cousins. You can rest assured he held his own with the girls. With his parents guiding his spiritual life, along with his "Aunt Dorothy," the late Dorothy Freeman McGinnis, he confessed Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and was baptized at an early age at the Second New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by his grandfather. At Second New Zion, he was active in the music department and played the drums. He was installed as a Deacon on October 20, 1990, received his called to the ministry, and was ordained on September 25, 1992, by the Old Eighth District Association, Rev. Freddie Banks, Moderator. After being called to the ministry, Rev. Freeman was blessed to pastor Israelite Missionary Baptist Church beginning in 1993, and Second New Zion Missionary Baptist Church beginning in 2006. He was educated in the Rapides Parish School System, graduating from Alexandria Senior High School, May, 1983. While a student at ASH, he participated on the track team, receiving many medals for his ability to "run" very fast. Also, while in high school, he participated in the Junior Academy with the Alexandria Police Department, where he was assigned a policeman that mentored him and even allowed him to ride in the police car. His employment was with the Kraft Paper Mill until his health began to fail. Rev. Freeman met Linda Baines, the love of his life, and joined in holy matrimony on Oct 24, 1992. To this union was born their only child, Daryn Caleb. He was blessed and proud to witness Caleb graduate from Northwestern State University in May of this year. A true man of God who gave his life for the betterment of others, he served his community well. He was a political activist who encouraged people to register to vote and to become more aware of the issues the community was facing. He also provided transportation to the "poles", and helped anyone in need, by feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and clothing the naked. Left to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Linda Baines Freeman, son, Daryn Caleb Freeman; two sisters, Natalie Freeman(Charles) Brown, and Aleta Freeman Benjamin, all of Alexandria; his sister-in-law, Ann Hamilton, of Pineville, Louisiana; nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the Israelite and Second New Zion Missionary Baptist Church families.
