Celebrating the Life of
May Rose Davis
May Rose Davis, born on July 13, 1939, in Pineville, Louisiana, was a beacon of warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to all who knew her. She peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
Affectionately known as “The Neighborhood Grandmother,” May was more than a homemaker—she was the heart of her neighborhood. To many, the neighborhood was her family. Her home in Alexandria, Louisiana, was a place of comfort, laughter, and love—a sanctuary where anyone could come as they were and feel welcomed. In the words of Maya Angelou, “The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” May embodied that safe place for so many.
Her love for family was boundless and unwavering. She deeply cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, pouring into each generation with wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love. She had a special gift for nurturing others, always ensuring that those around her felt seen, cared for, and valued.
May also had a deep love for cooking, a gift she used to bring people together. Her kitchen was the center of fellowship, where meals were prepared with love and shared with joy. The aroma of her cooking and the warmth of her presence created memories that will live on for generations.
Her life was a testament to service, strength, and selflessness. She was the unwavering rock of her family and a guiding light within her community. Her spirit, her laughter, and her nurturing heart made a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.
May’s life will be celebrated with a public viewing and visitation on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Antioch Apostolic Church, 1510 Dallas Avenue, Alexandria, Louisiana 71301. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Final committal rites will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 2733 Eddie Williams Avenue, Alexandria, Louisiana 71302.
