Marvin Keith Howard, Sr.
December 20, 1968 – September 16, 2026
Marvin Keith Howard, Sr. was born on December 20, 1968, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Julius Howard and Eula Lee Green Howard. He was blessed with 57 years of life before transitioning from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
A lifelong Alexandrian, Marvin attended Alexandria Senior High School, where he was known for his athletic ability and played basketball during his younger years. He proudly graduated with the Class of 1988. The determination and discipline he displayed as a young man became qualities that followed him throughout his life.
Music was an important part of Marvin’s life from an early age. Gifted both vocally and musically, he sang and played the drums and would become a well-known quartet singer. Through his music, Marvin shared a gift that brought encouragement, joy, and inspiration to many throughout the community.
Marvin was a faithful member of New Scott Olly Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop Lynell Smith, where he sang with the Brotherhood Choir. His voice, presence, and love for music became a meaningful part of his service to his church family.
Marvin was also a hardworking and dedicated man who understood the importance of providing for those he loved. He established a career in the trucking industry and worked as a truck driver for Estes Freight. He was goal-oriented, dependable, committed, and loyal, approaching his responsibilities with strength and determination.
On September 21, 2000, Marvin united in marriage with Sylvia Neal Howard. Throughout his life, his loving and caring nature was evident in the relationships he shared with those closest to him. He will be remembered as a strong yet compassionate man—loyal, faithful, committed, and dependable.
Away from work and music, Marvin enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He especially loved fishing and camping, opportunities that allowed him to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and spend meaningful time with family and friends.
Marvin leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife, Sylvia Neal Howard; four children, Mercedes Howard, Marvin Howard, Jr., Julius Howard, and Kalea Howard; two grandchildren, Keezy Jefferson and Marlee Jefferson; two godchildren, Alysah McGrew and Alexiana Domino; one brother, Michael Howard (Sherry); three sisters, Cynthia McGrew (George), Juliet Douglas, and Theresa Chambless (Harvey); along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, fellow singers, church family, friends, and countless others whose lives were touched by Marvin.
Marvin leaves behind a legacy defined by faith, family, music, hard work, strength, dedication, love, and loyalty. His voice may now be silent, but the songs he sang, the work he accomplished, the love he gave, and the memories he created will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
