John Louis Franklin was born February 13, 1942 to the late Ms. Viola Dennis and Thomas J. Franklin in Pineville, Louisiana. He transitioned to his heavenly home on June 17, 2023 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
John Louis confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Charles F. Smith, Sr. at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a member of the Second Evergreen Baptist Church.
John was a proud product of Rapides Parish schools, and he worked for many years at the Noah Potato Chip Company. He worked as a Sales Representative with Matt's Janitorial before he became owner of Franklin and Sons Floor Care Service. Later in life he worked with several funeral homes (Good Shepherd and Winnfield)
On December 24, 1966 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Daisy Everfield. To this union two children were born, Darnell Gerard and Marcus Dwayne.
John never met a stranger and showed kindness to all people. He was a delight to his friends as well as his family and he was a source of goodwill to a stranger. He took great pride in many activities such as barbecuing, catering for family events, working in his yard and traveling with his brother Calvin and sister in law Carolyn.
John loved sports , especially the New Orleans Saints. When they would lose it would make him so upset. He would tell his sons he was done watching them, but would tune into to the next game the following week.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers - Robert Williams, Sr. and Roy Douglas Franklin.
To cherish his memories, he leaves his sons Darnell Gerard Franklin (Amelia), Alexandria, LA; Marcus Dwayne Franklin (Latoya), Houston, TX; four granddaughters, Jalynn & Kynnidy, Los Angeles, CA; Kayla & Kaci, New Orleans, LA; one brother, Calvin Tanner (Carolyn), Houston, TX; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Williams, Alexandria, LA, Bernie E Davis and Bessie Everfield both of Port Arthur, TX; one brother-in-law Kenneth Everfield also of Port Arthur , TX one godchild, Curdick F.
