Joe Nelson, Jr. was born January 19, 1949, to the late Georgia Mae Nelson and Joe Nelson, Sr, in Bunkie, LA. He peacefully entered eternal rest on February 11, 2021, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church. Joe attended Carter C. Raymond. He worked at the Sugar Mill in Lecompte, LA, for many years. He also was Farmer for many years until he wasn't able to work anymore. Joe was a kind, strong loving person that loved his family especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Georgia Mae Nelson and Joe Nelson, Sr: siblings, Johnny Nelson, George Roberts, LC Roberts, and Pearl Nelson; nephews, Kendrick Abraham and Clifton Nelson; one sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson. He leaves to cherish his children (2) daughters, Farrah Sewell (John) and Melanie Hall; (4) sons, Joe Nelson III, JoRay Hall (Saundra), Dexter Hall, and Joel Brown (Yolanda); his grandchildren and great grandchildren; (5) brothers; Charlie Nelson, Roy Nelson, James Roberts, Sherman Brooks, and Leonard Williams; a host of nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. He had (3) other children that he raised as his own Jackie Hall, Kadron Kirk, and Shelby Brown. He was once married to Sheila Dorty for 31 years. Public viewing and visitation will be held at Miller and Hill "The Funeral Directors, on Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 9 am to 1030 am.
