James Douglas Minor, Jr., began his life's journey on February 4, 1978, in Multnomah County, Oregon, to Betty Ann Prenell and James Douglas Minor, Sr. He transitioned to his Heavenly home on Monday, September 11, 2023.
It's hard to sum up what a great person he was and just how much he meant to so many people. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and so much more. James had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He had a charming personality and never met a stranger. He was affectionately known to many as "Poo Noo." In school, he was the class clown, and at home amongst family and friends, he was the life of the party.
James attended school in the Rapides Parish School District. He was a 1996 graduate of Bolton High School. You could always count on James to display his football skills on Friday nights with his favorite cheerleader, his mom, sitting in the stands cheering him on. He was a member of the powerlifting team, chorale, as well as many other various groups and clubs. Poo Noo was a natural-born comedian and kept his classmates entertained every single day. His personality and sense of humor was what many people adored about him. James was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan, loved to sing, zydeco, trailrides, bike clubs, and so much more.
One relationship that James took great pride in was his role as a father. The bond that James shared with his son was unique and what kept him going when he was sick. Anyone who knew James knew that Trey was his whole world. He was always teaching his namesake about life. James also helped raise Trey's siblings as his own.
Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD." James was blessed with an angel. His fiancee, Kristen, was a true blessing to him from the very beginning until God called him home. She also took good care of his son while he was sick. The family is grateful that he was blessed with such an amazing woman.
James worked at Sutherland's, Lowe's, Pincrest, and the Rapids Parish Sheriff's Department. Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancee, Kristen Courtney; son, James Douglas Minor III; parents, Robert and Betty Vorrice and James Douglas Minor, Sr. (Virginia); brother, Casual Vorrice (Jadea); sister, Diedra Marion; two nieces, Israel and Regina; bonus children, Adorea, Ja'dahn, Angelica, and Jaelon Green, and Jamarion and Allonna Boyd; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his first-born son, Jartavious D. Minor; maternal grandparents, Pearl Edwards Prenell and Oris Fisher Prenell; paternal grandparents, Eddie Minor, Jr., and Maggie Louise Minor; aunt, Carolyn Minor; uncles, Otis D. Prenell, Jr., Larry, Roy Lee, and John Minor; and special grandmother, Catherine Burgess.
Please keep the family in prayer.
