Obituary of JaKobey X. Kahey
“A Life Remembered... A Legacy Forever Cherished”
On Thursday, July 9, 2026, the hearts of many were forever changed when JaKobey X. Kahey departed this earthly life at the young age of 22 years old. Though his life was tragically and senselessly cut short, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
JaKobey was born on December 31, 2003, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Vivian X. Kahey, Jr. and Jacqueline Chapman, who surrounded him with unwavering love throughout his life. He proudly graduated from Poteet High School in Mesquite, Texas, with the Class of 2023. Shortly thereafter, he entered the workforce as a Furniture Assembler, where he was known as a dependable, hardworking young man who took pride in earning an honest living.
Those who knew JaKobey will forever remember his infectious personality. He was naturally goofy, quick with a joke, and had an incredible ability to make people laugh, even during difficult moments. His playful spirit, bright smile, and humorous nature brought joy to family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He never met a moment he couldn't lighten with laughter.
JaKobey loved basketball and football and could often be found enjoying long gaming sessions on his PlayStation 5. Above all else, however, his greatest joy came from his family. He treasured every opportunity to be with those he loved and especially cherished his greatest blessings—his children.
His love for his daughter, K'Nairi Kahey, and his son, A'rmoni Kahey, was immeasurable. They were the light of his life, and he embraced fatherhood with love, pride, and devotion.
JaKobey leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving mother, Jacqueline Chapman; his father, Vivian X. Kahey, Jr.; his beloved children, K'Nairi Kahey and A'rmoni Kahey; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Elie; his paternal grandparents, Helen Wilson and Vivian X. Kahey, Sr.; his bonus grandmother, Debbie Stanfield; and his beloved Godmother, Shaterica Wagner.
He is also lovingly remembered by his four siblings: TyAsia Kahey (LaTavion), Braiden Wagner, Jaylan Chapman, and Tytianna Benson.
He leaves behind his maternal aunts, Shakila Chapman, Carlina Elie, and Donesha Shaw; his maternal uncles, Marcus Johnson, Wilbert Marshall, and Ellery Elie, Jr. (Latrice); his paternal aunts, April Pearson (Kenneth Pearson), Keesha Sices (Thaddeus Sices), and Tracy Howard (Charlie Howard); his paternal uncle, Tito Wilson; along with a host of other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Larry Lee Stanfield, and his bonus grandfather, Ellery Elie.
Although JaKobey's time on earth was far too brief, the impact he made will never be forgotten. His laughter will echo through the memories of those who loved him, his smile will remain etched in their hearts, and his love for his family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. While his life ended far too soon, his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will endure forever.
A Celebration of Life honoring JaKobey X. Kahey will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Church Family, 312 Hunter Street, Pineville, Louisiana 71360.
Following the service, JaKobey will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 2733 Eddie Williams Avenue, Alexandria, Louisiana 71302.
