Ida L. Norwood

Ida Louise "Yankee" Norwood was born February 24, 1958, in Pineville, Louisiana, to the parents Andrew Norwood and Lillian Harris Norwood. She departed this life surrounded by loved ones on May 18, 2021.

Ida was baptized at an early age by Reverend Freddie Washington. She was a graduate of Peabody Magnet High School Class of 1976. Ida was a hard worker, she worked for Rapides Regional Medical Center for 21 years and 9 months until her health began to decline. You could find her at Pitt Grill with a cup of coffee, after almost every shift.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lillian H. Norwood; her sister, Jessie Ann Norwood; her brother, Cleveland Joe Harris; and her grandson, Daylon Lamar Norwood.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, 3 sons, Anthony Norwood and Tyrell Norwood (Crystal) both of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Leo Dorsey of McKinney, Texas; her brother, Benny Norwood Sr; her sisters, Izetta White and Patsy Norwood both of Alexandria, Louisiana, Martha Allen (Clifford) of Seattle, Washington, Ceola Smith of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and Patricia Smith of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; God Children, Terry Collins and Brittney Jones; 7 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at First Bethlehem Baptist Church, Alexandria, LA. Public viewing and visitation will begin at 2 pm with services beginning at 3 pm.

Immediately following the service she will be taken to McNutt Hill Cemetery, in Boyce, Louisiana, for final committal rights.
