Granvel George "G.G." Metoyer Obituary (1929

A service celebrating his life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Greater Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 Fenner Street, Alexandria, LA 71303. A viewing will take place from 8:30 am until the start time for the service at 10:00 am. Granvel George "G.G." will be taken to Louisiana National Cemetery, in Zachary, LA, immediately following the service, for final committal rights. Granvel "G.G." Metoyer was born on January 9, 1929 to the late Georgie Lloyd Metoyer and Jack A. Metoyer in Selma, Louisiana. In his later years he moved to Alexandria, Louisiana. Granvel attended Peabody High School. He earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Granvel was an educator with the Rapides Parish School System. He served as an Assistant Principal at Peabody High School and Principal of W.O. Hall Elementary. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the Lions Club of Alexandria, Louisiana and secretary of the Rapides Finance Authority. In 1953, Granvel married Rosia Gilbert and remained married for 67 years. To that union, four children were born. Granvel is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl B. Metoyer, Sr. and Jack D. Metoyer and a daughter, Toni Metoyer Booker. Granvel G. Metoyer leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rosia G. Metoyer; two sons, Renwick Granvel Metoyer (Linda) and Keith Andre' Metoyer (Charlene); one daughter, Karlette Metoyer Arnold (George) of Kenner, LA and one Godchild, Pamela Carl Metoyer.
