Deborah Williams-Frazier

–

Alexandria, Louisiana

Deborah Williams-Frazier was born on Monday, November 18, 1957, in Pineville,
Louisiana, to Sherman Williams Sr. and Mercides Battles Williams. She peacefully
entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Deborah was one of ten children born to her loving parents. She began her education at
Silver City Elementary, continued through Jones Street Junior High, and proudly
graduated with the Class of 1975 from the mighty Peabody High School. She went on to
attend Northwestern State University for two years.

From a young age, Deborah accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. As she
matured, so did her faith, and she lived each day in service to Him. She faithfully
attended Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she joyfully served as a greeter and
participated in Wednesday Bible studies and the beloved “Seniors Having Fun” group.
She was a devoted student of the Word and lived by the example of Christ’s love.

Deborah was drawn to a life of service and found her calling in healthcare. She
dedicated many years of compassionate care as an employee at Rapides Regional
Medical Center and the VA Medical Center simultaneously. Her gentle spirit and
nurturing heart touched the lives of patients, colleagues, and countless others.

To her family, Deborah was the heart and soul—a selfless mother, beloved “Mawmaw”
and “G-Mawmaw,” devoted sister, caring aunt, loyal friend, and cherished neighbor. Her
unwavering support, warmth, and presence made her a light to everyone who knew her.
She loved deeply and gave freely of her time and heart.

Deborah found joy in the simple pleasures: shopping, traveling, and doting on her
beloved fur-baby, Paco. She especially loved celebrating with her Peabody classmates
and took great pride in her alma mater. Her vibrant smile and kind words could brighten
any room.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Williams Sr. and Mercides Battles
Williams; her sisters Beverly Williams Jenkins, Mildred Williams, Shirley Williams
Anderson, and Betty Norris; her brothers Eugene Battles and Joseph Battles; her niece
Bridget Jacobs; and her nephews Alex Williams and Jamarious Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter, Mercedes Williams (Hayward) of
Pineville; grandchildren, Keric Rachal, Haylee Hinkston, and Hayden Hinkston, all of
Pineville; and her great-granddaughter, Jynesis Rachal. She is also survived by her
brothers Anthony Williams and Kenneth Williams (Diedre) of Alexandria; her sister
Gwendolyn Harbor of Alexandria; and her beloved aunt Alma Battles of Houston, Texas.

Deborah also leaves behind her godson, Jarmanick Battles of Alexandria; a host of
nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Among those closest to her heart
were her “sisters in love” of over 55 years, Patricia Eli and Lucinda Alexander of over 30
years, as well as her treasured “Golden Girls”: Rudina, Katherine, and Madie.

Deborah Williams-Frazier lived a life of purpose, grace, and love. Her legacy will live on
in all who were blessed to know her.
