The Life and Legacy of Anna Lois Jones
Anna Lois Jones was born Anna Lois Evans on April 13, 1948, in Pineville, Louisiana, to the late Dempsey Evans and Gladys Staton Evans. She was raised in Rapides Parish and received her education through the Rapides Parish School System, attending A. Wettermark School in Boyce, Louisiana, where she graduated with honors.
Anna was a humble, God-fearing woman whose life was centered around her faith and her family. She was the loving mother of three sons, and motherhood was one of the greatest joys of her life. While she possessed a gentle and humble spirit, she could also be stern when necessary, especially when it came to raising her sons and making sure they were guided in the right direction. Her love, strength, wisdom, and discipline helped shape the lives of her family and will remain an important part of her legacy.
Anna had a love for reading and especially enjoyed spending quiet moments with a good novel. She was also fond of jazz music, which brought her great enjoyment throughout the years.
Professionally, Anna dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Pinecrest, where she provided care and assistance to those entrusted to her.
Her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life. Anna was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Sandra Williams, where she remained connected until her health began to decline.
Anna also treasured the friendships she developed throughout her life. She shared a special bond with a close group of ladies, including Mary Thomas, Berda Shephard, and Ophelia “Boo” White. Their friendship provided many cherished memories over the years. Mary Thomas survives each of them holding on to many precious memories.
On September 1, 2026, Anna completed her earthly journey at the age of 78, leaving behind a family and community enriched by the life she lived.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three sons, Andrew Jenkins, Jr., Reginald Jenkins, Sr. (Lanisha Lake), and Patrick Jenkins; 54 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her surviving siblings, Steve Evans (Essie), David Ransberry, Jeanetta Johnson, Bernice McCoy, Jack Evans (Dorothy), Margaret Sweazie, Gwendolyn Johnson, Francis Smith, Terry Evans (Carolyn), Minister Cathy Jones, Emma Evans, and Michael Brew; her Goddaughter, Kenadi Evans. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Dempsey Evans and Gladys Staton Evans; husband Larry Jones; her sisters, Mary Louise Kelley and Geneva Venson; her brothers, Milton Evans, James Evans, and Marvin Evans; and other loved ones who welcomed her into eternal rest.
