Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them." Revelation 13:14 NJKV
Alvin (Pookie) Joseph Lavalais, Jr. was born on December 9, 1952 to the late Alvin and Mary Cecile Lavalais, Sr. He departed this life on November 1, 2021 at CHRISTUS St. Francis Cabrini Hospital.
Alvin was baptized at an early age at St. Anthony in Cottonport, LA and in 1991 he was united with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Willie J. Dunkley, where he served faithful as a deacon and church treasurer until death.
Alvin was united in marriage to Elizabeth Lotts Lavalais and to this union two (2) daughters were born, Lanna and Kim.
Pookie loved his family, friends, church family and Pastor. God blessed him with multiple gifts. Anything he could do to help someone, he did. He was a "jack of all trades," but his favorite hobby was being a mechanic.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Lavalais, Sr. and Mary Cecile Lavalais and daughter Lanna Lavalais Buckley.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Lotts Lavalais; 2 daughters, Kimberly (Jerrell) Duncan of Ball, LA and Jasmine Brown of Lafayette, LA; 9 grandchildren, Quadre' Buckley, Kiana Buckley, Xacaria Clark, Jerriah Duncan, Kyndle Duncan, Zoe Foster, Genesis Foster, Jayden Foster, Javori Broussard; one brother, Allen (Glennie) Lavalais of Alexandria, LA; "brother from another mother," Tommy (Daisy) Gaines of Alexandria, LA; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
Please keep the family in prayer.
