The Legacy of Alex Baker III
With deep love and solemn respect, we remember and celebrate the life of Alex Baker III - a devoted
son, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and man of quiet strength whose impact will be felt for
generations to come.
Born on February 21, 1959, in Pineville, Louisiana, Alex was raised in a home rooted in faith, discipline,
and family pride. He was the son of Doris and the late Alex Baker Jr., and the eldest of five children. From
an early age, carried a natural confidence, deep sense of purpose, and enduring work ethic that shaped
the man he would become.
A proud graduate of Rapides high School, Alex was both a standout athlete and a sharp-minded student.
He continued his education in civil engineering at LSUA and the University of Southwestern Louisiana,
before stepping into the greater responsibility of providing for his family - a role he embraced with
humility and grit.
Over the years, Alex built a life defined by skill, service, and self-reliance. He became a licensed
tradesman in multiple disciplines, including plumbing, welding, electrical work, and HVAC. As the found
of his own AC company, he earned respect across Central Louisiana not only for his craftsmanship, but
for his honesty, precision, and professionalism. Alex didn't believe in shortcuts - only in doing things the
right way, with your name and your word behind it.
To those who knew him well, Alex was more than capable - he was consistent. He was dependable,
principled, and proud. He was warm and deeply loyal to those he loved. His sense of humor was quick,
his advice was grounded in truth, and his presence spoke louder than any speech ever could. He could
joke, argue, teach, and lift your spirit all in one conversation.
He carried a special love for his children and grandchildren and wore his title of Pawpaw with honor. His
love was steady and deeply rooted. His pride for his sons was unwavering. His relationship with his
daughter was one of treat importance to him - a bond he held in his heart, even when words felt out of
reach. He wanted his kids to understand who he was - not just what he provided. And when he said,
"I'm proud of y'all", it meant more than a thousand lectures.
Alex also treasured the simple joys of life; time with family, his mama's home-cooked meals, long drives,
laughter among loved ones, and peaceful moments near the beach in Biloxi. He especially valued his role
in the family-owned Ugly Cafe - where food and community came together with heart, heritage, and
hospitality.
He is preceded in death by his father Alex Baker Jr, his brother Patrick Baker, and his nephew Christopher
Hebert.
He is survived by his loving mother Doris Baker; his children, Robert, Alex, Austen (Melinda), Asa,
Ayanna, and Abram; his grandchildren Davis, Ayden, Alyssa, Austen II, and Aspen; his siblings Sherry
(Albert), Kahree, Tyres (Gloria), and Janlyn; a special friend Karen and an extended family and
community who admired, respected, and cherished him.
Please keep the family in prayer.
